The photos for “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World” are all done and so beautiful I could make out with my computer screen. And by could I mean am.

I'm leaving tomorrow and completely 100% unprepared. Guess what? I am going to post photos of cupcakes! Bet you didn't see that coming. I'm practically phoning it in at this point

I have so much to say but such little inclination to say it. I think a list is in order.

1- The cupcake book is almost done. Here’s a picture of a cupcake to prove it.

2- I was on TV in Boston. It got off to a rough start but then things smoothed out. You can watch me making waffles here.

3- I’m going on a book tour this week. But it’s not really a tour it’s only Minneapolis and Portland (see details below for Mpls. In Portland I’ll be at Food Fight Grocery on Saturday May 6th). It seemed like too much of a hassle to procure other dates in other cities and plus I’m shy sometimes. Mostly I am going to be camping but in any case I will be gone for 3 whole weeks. I hope that veganism can survive without me.

4- Wow, that wasn’t much of a list at all.

come meet isa and cap off earth day in a delicious way. we'll hear all about her show and books, plus she'll demonstrate how to make her favorite icing—which we'll use to decorate her special-recipe cupcakes with!

bring along your copy of vegan with a vengeance—or buy one at the event—for isa to sign.

She doesn't even know I exist

I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Joan Jett for Herbivore magazine and she was awesome. Totally smart and intense and badass. About halfway through the interview I realized that she had no idea who I was and felt really stupid for asking a million questions about food.

Joan: Like I was saying with the pasta and a great marinara sauce with good olive oil and stuff. I’m so happy when I sit down and make that food for myself. It’s really a nice experience. Do you cook?

Me: Yeah. Well you gave me a quote for my cookbook actually.

Joan: Oh, really? Yeah! That's your cookbook?

So that probably won't make it into the interview. And also, at the beginning I called her “Joan Jett” instead of “Joan”. As in “Hi Joan Jett!”. She said “You can call me Joan.” So I felt pretty stupid from the get-go. But at least I can tell my adopted grandchildren that I interviewed Joan Jett.
