Chocolate!

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

The Vegan Freak roving correspondent reviews all sorts of vegan chocolates, with taste testers and everything. Fancy. And now I want chocolate really badly. Apparantly Hempenberry isn't so hot, but they got me curious. Sometimes I like crunchy food.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Moo Shoes Thursday night to see me! It was a great time and one I won't soon forget. You were a remarkably attractive audience.

My favorite feedback from VwaV so far has been in the form of pictures posted on my forums and elsewhere so I thought I'd post a few. They go a little something like this:

Tempeh Bacon, Herb Roasted Potatoes and Biscuits

Spanikopita (Spinach Pies)

Corn Chowder

BLT

Also, this blog Eat Air has been posting a lot of VwaV goodness along with other yummy vegan food stuff. It's from 2 vegans who post what they eat pretty much everyday. I also set up a food porn section in my forums so don't be shy, post yours!

I'm baking cookies for the ABC-No-Rio benefit right now. Looks like I will be fashionably late. I haven't been to ABC in at least 5 years, I'm interested to see how it's looking and wondering if I'm going to feel like a granny.

I've been practicing my signature since 7th grade. Please don't make those years of training go to waste come to my book signing! More info here but all you need to know is:

Thursday, December 8, from 7-9 PM

MooShoes is located at 152 Allen Street, NYC (btwn. Rivington and Stanton) F train to 2nd Avenue.

Oh, also you should know that there will be free Dogfish Head beer and other food and refreshments but I know that all you really care about is the beer. Also, as promised, I will be making waffles. And waiting on you hand and foot.

3 Presents for you and yours

This is what everyone is getting from me this year. Since none of my friends read this journal it's safe to say that it will still be a surprise. Wait, not to say that you - dear reader - do not double as a friend. Just to say that you've never let me cry on your shoulder at 3 am. There's time yet, though.

1 - Webly's 2006 Kitchen Calendar. I've already gotten mine and they are perfect. Cute but not cutesy. They have recipes for every month plus helpful cooking tips (of course the tips are helpful, why would you have unhelpful tips?). And they are only 3 dollars! At that price you can't afford not to. (Scroll to the bottom of the page for the paypal address)

2 - 2006 Slingshot organizer. Because you need to know about the textile workers strike that happened on your birthday. Plus, you need to remember your therapy appointments.

3 - Herbivore Magazine subscription. Because Herbivore is fun, informative and well designed. So it's like 3 steps above The New Yorker. And I wish I'd thought of saying “Putting the F.U. in tofu since '03.”

Consume! Consume!
